Transmission servicing at your home
Automatic transmission fluid is not lifetime fluid, whatever the sticker says. Heat is what kills a gearbox, and old fluid stops shedding heat and stops the clutch packs gripping cleanly. A fluid and filter change at sensible intervals is the single cheapest thing you can do for an automatic.
We carry the correct specification fluids and do the service in your driveway, including the pan, filter and gasket where the design allows.
Faults we diagnose
- Slipping or engine revs flaring between shifts
- Harsh or delayed engagement into drive or reverse
- Shuddering at light throttle — often torque converter lock-up
- Refusal to shift, or limp mode stuck in third
- Transmission fault codes and solenoid failures
- Leaks from the pan, cooler lines or output seals
Honest advice on rebuilds
Some transmissions are worth rebuilding and some are not. We scan, road test and check the fluid condition, then tell you plainly whether a service and a solenoid will fix it, whether it needs a specialist rebuild, or whether the car is better off with a replacement unit. We will not sell you a rebuild you do not need.
